National Conference on “Power, Energy and Environment” was held at MDC on SHE, Bhubaneswar. Shri K K Sharma, Director (Operation), NTPC, New Delhi addressing as the chief guest.
National seminar on “Hazardous Substance Management in Ordnance Factories, Defence Installations and MAH Establishments related to Steel, Aluminium, Power & Chemical Sectors of India” was held at MDC on SHE, Bhubaneswar. The national seminar was inaugurated by Shri Gokul Chandra Pati,IAS, Union Secretary, Ministry of Defence Production, GOI at 10.00 am on 29.01.2014.
National seminar on “Chemical(Industrial) Disasters – Off-site Emergency Management and Integration with District Disaster Management Plans” was organised in association with NIDM, Ministry of Home Affairs, GOI at MDC on SHE, Bhubaneswar.
Dr.Taradatta, IAS, Addl. Chief Secretary, Odisha & CMD, OSDMA inaugurated the programme and released a souvenir. Shri R.K.Sharma,IAS, Principal Secretary, L&ESI Department addressed as the spl. Guest of Honour.
National seminar on “Industrial Disaster- A National Concern- Prevention, Control and Management” was organised at MDC on SHE, Bhubaneswar. Shri D.P.Bagchi,IAS(Retd), Distinguished past President, MDC on SHE (Ex-Chief Secretary,Odisha) inaugurated the seminar and released a souvenir.
State level Seminar on “Industrial Pollution, Safety and Work Environment in Odisha Industries” was held at MDC on SHE, Bhubaneswar. Shri G.S.Prasad, CEO, SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant inaugurated the seminar and release a souvenir brought out on the occasion.
His Excellency Shri Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, Hon’ble Governor of Odisha receiving the ‘First copy’ of the “Hand Book on First Aid- A Comprehensive Manual” published by Multi Disciplinary Centre on Safety, Health and Environment (MDC on SHE) at Raj Bhavan, Odisha.
International Seminar on “Occupational Health and Hygiene – Update” was organised in association with the Directorate of Medical Education and Training, Orissa at Hotel Swosti Premium, Bhubaneswar. Shri Bijaya Kumar Patnaik,IAS, Chief Secretary, Orissa inaugurated the seminar and released a souvenir brought out on the occasion.
MoEF, Government of India sponsored training-workshop on “Bio-medical Waste Management” was held at MDC on SHE, Bhubaneswar. Shri Prafulla Samal, Hon’ble Minister, I&PR and Panchayati Raj,Odisha inaugurated the training-workshop. Dignataries who addressed on the occasion were Dr.Arun Kumar Panda,IAS, Principal Secretary, H&UD Dept, Odisha, Shri Sahadeva Sahoo, Ex-Chief Secretary, Odisha, Shri G.S.Khuntia, Vice President, MDC on SHE, Prof.(Dr) B.C.Das, Principal, KIMS and Shri G.D.Rath, Secretary, MDC on SHE.
The workshop was attended by 86 participants comprising professors, doctors, matrons, staff nurses, paramedical staff, lab.technicians from different Medical Colleges, Private Hospitals & Nursing Homes, Government Hospitals located in and around Bhubaneswar. Besides, the programme was also attended by officials of Municipalities, NACs of the district.
MoEF, Government of India sponsored training-workshop on “Prevention and Management of Chemical Accident” was organised at PPT, Paradip,Odisha. The programme was attended by officers of industries located in and around Jagatsinghpur, particularly Paradip.Besides, Government officers of the district also attended the programme and took active participation.
Shri K.Raghuramaiah,IRTS,Chairman, PPT inaugurated the programme at 10.00 am on 10th March,2010.
MoEF, Government of India sponsored training-workshop on “Bio-medical Waste Management” was held at DRDA Hall, Khurda. Dr.Ajit Kumar Tripathy,IAS(Retd), President, MDC on SHE & State Election Commissioner ( formerly Chief Secretary, Odisha inaugurated the programme and released a souvenir brought out on the occasion. Others who graced the inaugural session were S/Shri Sahadeva Sahoo, Ex-Chief Secretary, Odisha, N.C.Jena,IAS, Dist.Magistrate & Collector, Khurdha, Maj.General (Dr)B.K.Mohanty, PVSM (Retd), Dr.C.R.Mohapatra,IFS (Retd), Vice President, MDC on SHE(Ex-Chairman, State Pollution Control Board,Odisha and G.D.Rath, Secretary, MDC on SHE.
The workshop was attended by 93 participants comprising doctors, matrons, staff nurses, paramedical staff, Lab.Technicians from different CHCs, PHCs, Dist.HQ Hospital and private hospitals/ nursing homes of khurda district. Besides, the programme was also attended by officials of Municipalities, NACs of the district.
International Convention on “Clean, Green & Sustainable Technologies in Iron & Steel Making” was jointly organised by Odisha Mining Corporation and Multi Disciplinary Centre on Safety, Health and Environment from 15th to 17th July,2009 at Hotel Swosti Plaza, Bhubaneswar.
The Convention was inaugurated by Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minsister, Orissa.
Shri P.K.Rastogi,IAS, Union Steel Secretary, GOI inaugurated an “Exhibition” and Shri Ajit Kumar Tripathy,IAS, Chief Secretary,Odisha presided over the entire function.
State level Workshop on “Industrial Relations and Industrial Safety Scenario in Orissa” , a sponsored programme of State Government, Labour and Employment Department, Orissa was organised in association with Labour and Employment Department,Orissa at Hotel Crown, Bhubaneswar. The workshop was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice Shri B.P.Das, High Court, Orissa at 10.00 am on 7th Feb,2009.
A National Seminar on “Humanizing Work Environment in Industries for Creating a Positive Safety and Health Culture” sponsored by DGFASLI, Govt. of India & funded by the State Govt., Labour & Employment Dept., Orissa was organized on 25.10.2008 at Hotel Crown, Bhubaneswar. A state level Training–Workshop on “Bio-Medical Waste Management” sponsored by the MoEF, Govt. of India was held on 30th to 31st May, 2008 at Hotel Crown, Bhubaneswar. Labour & Employment Dept., Orissa was organized for the Engineering Students of Orissa at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Ajit Kumar Tripathy, IAS, Chief Secretary & Chief Development Commissioner, Orissa on 26.07.2008. On the occasion Shir Tripathy released a souvenir containing technical papers of the programme.
A Divisional level Training-Workshop on “Prevention and Management of Chemical Accidents”, sponsored by MoEF, Govt. of India was held on 10th & 11th September, 2008 at IIPM, Kansbahal. Participants from Sundargarh, Jharsuguda & Keonjhar districts attended the training-workshop. Shri J.A. Khan, IAS, Revenue Divisional Commissioner, Northern Division, Orissa, while inaugurating the workshop released a souvenir brought out on the occasion. Smt. Shalini Pandit, IAS, District Magistrate & Collector, Sundargarh, presided over the inaugural session.

A Divisional level Training – Workshop on “Biomedical Waste Management” was organized at DRDA Conference Hall, Bolangir. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Sahadeva Sahoo, IAS (Retd.), Ex-Chief Secretary, Orissa and presided by Shri Kashinath Sahoo, IAS, District Magistrate & Collector, Balangir.
A five days training on “Occupational Safety & First Aid” was organized at IMA Hall, Cuttack from 16th to 20th October 2008. The training was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) P. K. Das, DMET, Orissa.
