The Multi Disciplinary Centre on Safety, Health & Environment (MDC on SHE) was set up by the L&E Department, Govt. of Odisha vide ‘RESOLUTION’ dated 29th January, 1993 at Bhubaneswar for Promotion of Industrial Safety, Occupational Health & Environment in the Industries of Odisha.
This Centre has been relentlessly trying its best since its inception to reach out to all across sections of the society including industry, government, media, schools, colleges, house-wives etc through various training / workshops / seminars at site and off-site on various relevant topics beneficial to them.
A full time regular course on “Post Diploma in Industrial Safety”, approved by DTE&T (Directorate of Technical Education and Training) and affiliated to SCTE&VT (State Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training), Odisha has been introduced from the 2009-2010 academic session. The passed out are being engaged in different industries and construction companies across the country.
The MDC on SHE, to its credit has earned the distinction of promoting specialized First Aid Course Certification meant for the employees of factories and mines. The certificate issued to the successful participants are recognized under the Factory Act-1948 and Mines Act-1945. Besides, the institute conducts short term certificate course on “Industrial Safety Management”, Hazardous Substance Management, Biomedical Waste Management, Municipal Solid Waste Management, Chemical (Industrial) Disaster Management and other industries related issues.
To provide professional expertise in the field of Safety, Health & Environment, Pollution Control, Technological Disaster Management, Chemical Accidents, Hazardous Substance Management, Bio-Medical Waste Management and all such issues beneficial to all stake holders including the Factories, Mines, Administration, Regulating Agencies, NGOs and similar other organizations.
Aim
To create awareness among the employees, employers, administrators, opinion Makers, NGOs and Students in the field of Safety, Health and Environment, Technological Disaster Management, Hazardous Substance Management, Chemical Accident Management etc. through education, training, seminar, workshop and action oriented programmes.
